I've been meaning to post something new here since its been quite awhile. This image is a book cover created for the upcoming James Dashner novel, The Maze Runner. It was also featured in Expose' 7.

Most pieces with such a vertical restrictions [reads: books], suffer from crowding. But i find this works rather well. Well done sir! I'm a fan!

The plants are applied using nozzles from Corel Painter and custom brushes made from photo reference I tweak in PS befoe I apply the custom brush parameters to them:)

May seem random but if you're looking for inspiration comic-panel artists, like Gary Larson from FarSide, do some pretty innovative things to fit alot of information into a awkwardly confined space.
